At Anima Beauty in Amsterdam West we apply lash extensions with care and precision. Whether you want a subtle full look or something more dramatic, we tailor every set to your eye shape, hair colour and personal preferences. No one-size-fits-all work here: each set is built lash by lash. The result looks just as polished up close as it does at a distance. We use high-quality synthetic lashes and professional adhesive so the finish lasts and your natural lashes stay healthy.

The looks: Classic, Hybrid and Volume

We offer three styles, each with its own character. Classic (also called 'One by One' or '1 by 1') is the most natural option. One extension is placed on each natural lash. The result looks like well-applied mascara: defined, fresh and subtle. Classic suits clients who are new to extensions or who want a polished everyday look without a dramatic effect. Hybrid combines Classic and Volume. Some lashes receive a single extension; others get a small fan of two or three thin lashes. This adds more depth and texture than Classic while staying fairly natural. Hybrid sets are popular with clients who want a little more fullness without it looking artificial. Volume uses fans of several ultra-fine lashes per natural lash. The more lashes per fan, the fuller the result. Volume creates a glamorous, rich look that stands out even in photos. This is the style for those who consciously choose a striking look, whether for a special occasion or every day.

Lash Lift and Tint: the natural alternative

Not everyone wants extensions. If you are happy with the length of your natural lashes but want to give them a boost, a Lash Lift combined with a Tint is a great option. A Lash Lift curls your own lashes from the root, making them look optically longer and fuller. The Tint colours them deep black or dark brown so they show clearly without mascara. Results last an average of six to eight weeks. No adhesive, no extensions, no daily aftercare beyond the first 24 hours. This is a smart choice if you want low maintenance, if you swim or work out regularly, or if your lashes are already fairly full and simply need a little more lift.

Results and how long they last

Immediately after the appointment your lashes look noticeably fuller and more defined. The extensions follow the natural growth cycle of your own lashes. Like the hair on your head, lashes grow and shed, but on a shorter cycle. This means that after two to three weeks you will have noticeably fewer extensions than right after your appointment. With a regular refill every two to three weeks you keep the set looking complete. At a refill only the gaps and grown-out areas are filled in, which takes less time than a full new set. How long a full set looks good also depends on how you care for it. Good aftercare extends the lifespan considerably.

Aftercare: how to keep your lashes in good shape

The first 24 to 48 hours matter most. Keep your lashes dry during this period and avoid steam, sweating and rubbing. The adhesive needs time to fully cure. After that, a few simple habits make a real difference. Use an oil-free cleanser around your eyes. Oil, including that found in some face creams or combined makeup removers, breaks down the adhesive and causes extensions to shed faster. Remove eye makeup with a soft cotton swab or pad without rubbing. Waterproof mascara is not recommended. If you want to use mascara, choose an oil-free formula designed specifically for extensions and apply it only to the tips. Do not use a lash curler, as it can damage the extensions or cause them to kink. If you sleep on your side or stomach, try to sleep on your back or use a silk pillowcase to minimise friction overnight. With these habits your set will stay looking great for longer.

What to expect during your appointment

Your treatment takes place in a calm setting in our salon in Amsterdam West. You lie comfortably on the treatment bed with your eyes closed while the lash specialist works. Many clients relax deeply or even doze off. A full new set takes longer than a refill. The exact duration depends on the style you choose, Classic is generally faster than Volume, and on how much needs to be filled in. We recommend arriving without waterproof mascara or heavy eye makeup so that the preparation goes smoothly. During the initial consultation we discuss the look you want, your eye shape and which style suits you best. That way we both know exactly what the result will be before we start. If you have specific questions, feel free to ask before or during your appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Does getting lash extensions hurt?

No. Your eyes are closed throughout the treatment and the adhesive does not touch your skin. Most clients find the appointment relaxing. If you experience any burning or discomfort, let us know straight away.

How long do lash extensions last?

A set lasts as long as your natural lash cycle. After two to three weeks noticeably more extensions will have shed and a refill is recommended. With good aftercare and regular refills you can keep your set looking complete indefinitely.

How often do I need a refill?

On average every two to three weeks. If you wait longer there are more gaps to fill and the refill takes more time. Coming in on schedule means a shorter, quicker appointment.

Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?

Waterproof mascara is not recommended because it is hard to remove without rubbing and oil-based removers, which break down the adhesive. If you want extra definition, choose an oil-free mascara designed for use with extensions and apply it only to the tips.

Do lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

Not when applied professionally and cared for properly. The extensions are bonded to your own lashes, not to your skin. When they are removed or shed naturally your natural lashes are intact. Pulling or rubbing does risk premature shedding, so avoid that.

How long does a full new set appointment take?

It varies by style and by client. Classic is generally faster than Hybrid or Volume. When you book we will give you an indication of the expected duration. Allow enough time so that you are not rushed.
