We look together at your skin tone, the current colour of your hair, what you wear and what your daily life looks like. Only then do we decide which technique and shade will give the best result that is also easy to maintain. Neda and her team have been working with hair colour for over twelve years and know the difference between a shade that looks good on a colour card and a shade that genuinely suits you.
The colouring techniques
We work with several techniques, each with its own result. Root touch-up is the most requested treatment. We colour the regrowth to match the existing hair colour or a new colour so the line of demarcation disappears. Fast and effective maintenance for an even hair colour. Full colour applies one shade to the entire hair from root to tip. Good for a fresh colour change or to fully cover grey hairs. Half-head highlights and full-head highlights add lighter streaks throughout the hair for more depth and movement. Half-head is faster and less expensive; full head delivers a richer, more intense result. Toner or gloss is a semi-permanent treatment that brightens hair colour, adds a cool or warm tone, or neutralises brassiness. This is the step many blondes use to keep their hair a clear blonde or to achieve a beautiful ash-blonde tone. Balayage and ombré are freehand painted techniques in which colour gradually transitions from dark to light. Balayage gives a sun-kissed, differentiated look. Ombré on long hair is an extensive treatment that takes more time but lasts a long time.
Which technique suits you
The choice of colouring method depends on what you want to achieve and how often you are willing to come back for maintenance. A root touch-up requires regular upkeep to keep the line sharp, usually every four to six weeks. Highlights grow out less noticeably and can be left for longer. Balayage is the lowest-maintenance option: the transition is intentionally gradual, which means regrowth is far less obvious. Is this your first visit or are you looking for a significant change? We do not use standard formulas: every colour is mixed specifically for you.
Results and how long they last
Permanent hair colour lasts until the regrowth. The colour itself does not fade but new growth becomes visible after four to six weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. Semi-permanent colour such as a toner or gloss fades gradually after four to eight weeks and then disappears almost completely. Balayage and ombré are designed for long-lasting wear. Because the transition is intentionally gradual there are no sharp lines growing out visibly. With an occasional toner in between you keep the colour vibrant. Balayage is therefore one of the most low-maintenance choices if you want colour but do not want to come back every few weeks.
Aftercare for coloured hair
Coloured hair needs slightly different care from untreated hair. The most important tips: use a colour-safe shampoo without sulphates and a good conditioner or hair mask. Sulphate-free shampoo cleans the hair without washing the colour out quickly. For the first 48 hours after a colour treatment avoid very hot water when washing, and after that limit the use of very hot shower water as well. Heat styling is fine but always use a heat protection spray before using a hairdryer, straightener or curling iron. Direct sunlight can fade colour faster, especially with blonde or warm-toned hair. For prolonged sun exposure a UV-protective hair product is recommended. After swimming in chlorinated water, thorough rinsing and conditioning is extra important.

How long does a balayage treatment take?
Balayage takes about three hours on average. For balayage with ombré on long hair this can be up to three and a half hours. This includes application, processing and rinsing. Allow additional time if you also want a toner or blow-dry. Book this appointment on a day when you have plenty of time.
Can I combine a colour treatment with a cut?
Yes, this is something we do often. We start with the colour and finish with a cut and blow-dry. That way after one visit you leave with both a fresh colour and a polished cut. Mention this when booking so we can plan enough time.
Is balayage suitable if you already have highlights?
Yes, in many cases it is. During the intake we assess how the existing highlights sit and what condition the hair is in. Applying balayage to already lightened hair can sometimes require less lifting because the hair is already light. We always advise what the most logical next step is.
What exactly does a toner do and when is it needed?
A toner is a semi-permanent colour treatment that adjusts the tone of the hair without bleaching it or structurally changing the colour. It is often used after lightening to neutralise yellow or orange undertones, but also to make colour richer or deeper. A toner is also a good way to keep colour vibrant after a balayage or highlights without redoing the full colour.
