At Anima Beauty in Amsterdam West we offer keratin and hair botox treatments for those who want their hair smoother, more manageable or intensively nourished. Frizzy hair, poofy hair or hair that has lost condition from bleaching or heat styling: the right protein treatment can make a significant difference. We work with professional products and tailor the treatment to the thickness, texture and current state of your hair. Neda and her team will help you make the right choice, without making promises that are too good to be true.

Keratin treatment: long-lasting smoother hair

A keratin treatment works from the inside out. The keratin protein is deposited into the hair shaft and then sealed with heat. This reinforces the hair fibres, reduces frizz and makes the hair more flexible and easier to style. The result is visibly smoother and shinier hair that also takes noticeably less time to style in the morning. We offer keratin treatments for medium-length and long hair. Longer hair requires more product and more time, which is reflected in the price. The treatment takes on average two to three hours and includes washing, applying the product, processing time and blow-drying and flat-ironing to seal the keratin in. Results last on average three to five months depending on how you care for your hair at home. Sulphate-free shampoo is the foundation: sulphates wash keratin out more quickly. Also wait two to three days after the treatment before washing your hair.

Hair Botox and hair protein: intensive nourishment

Hair botox is not an actual botox injection but a deeply nourishing treatment that restores the hair structure from the inside out. The product fills small cracks and areas of porosity in the hair with proteins, fatty acids and other nutrients. This makes hair softer, shinier and more resilient without permanently relaxing or de-curling it. Hair botox is a good choice if your hair has become dry and brittle from chemical treatments or excessive heat styling but you want to keep the natural curl or texture. It also works well as a recovery treatment after bleaching. Hair protein treatments follow the same principle: proteins are deposited into the hair shaft to repair structural damage. Depending on the product used and the condition of the hair, different outcomes are possible. We always discuss this first.

Which treatment suits you

The choice between a keratin treatment, hair botox or hair protein depends on what you want to achieve and the current state of your hair. Do you want to make your hair permanently more manageable and easier to style, with less frizz and a long-lasting result? Then a keratin treatment is the most suitable choice. This is also the treatment where flat irons are used to seal the product in. Is your hair damaged from chemical treatments or heat and do you want to improve its condition without changing the texture? Then hair botox or hair protein is a better fit. These treatments repair and nourish the hair but do not fundamentally change the curl pattern or texture. We always assess this together during the intake. Bring your hair in the best possible condition on the day of the treatment: simply washed and dry. Avoid silicone-rich products as these can hinder the absorption of the treatment product.

Aftercare for a long-lasting result

After a keratin treatment the first few days are crucial. Keep the hair dry and avoid hair pins, hair ties or other accessories that can leave a crease in the hair. Do not wash the hair for the first two to three days. Once you can wash it again, use only sulphate-free shampoo. Avoid chlorine, salt water and excessive direct sun exposure as these speed up the breakdown of the keratin. Heat styling is fine but always use a heat protection spray. After a hair botox or protein treatment similar advice applies: sulphate-free shampoo, no harsh cleansers and a nourishing conditioner or mask for maintenance. Regular use of a nourishing hair mask keeps the result active for longer.

Frequently asked questions

What does a keratin treatment cost at Anima Beauty?

Keratin treatment for short hair starts from EUR 200. For medium-length hair it starts from EUR 250 and for long hair, hair protein and keratin starts from EUR 300. Hair botox for short hair starts from EUR 90. Current prices are listed on our Fresha page.

How long does a keratin treatment last?

On average three to five months, depending on how you care for your hair at home. Sulphate-free shampoo extends the result. Washing regularly with sulphate-containing shampoos speeds up the loss of the keratin.

Can I wash my hair after the treatment?

After a keratin treatment you wait two to three days before washing your hair. During that period also avoid leaving creases in the hair from hair ties or pins. After a hair botox or protein treatment the waiting time is generally shorter. We will give you clear aftercare instructions after the treatment.

Is a keratin treatment suitable for all hair types?

Keratin treatments work best on naturally frizzy or tightly curled hair, on hair prone to frizz, or on hair that has been damaged by chemical treatments. For very fine or already very straight hair the effect is less pronounced. We always discuss this during the intake so you know what to realistically expect.

What is the difference between hair botox and a keratin treatment?

A keratin treatment focuses on making the hair more manageable and smoother and has a relaxing effect on the hair structure. Hair botox focuses on nourishing and repairing damaged hair without changing the curl pattern. Hair botox is therefore the better choice if you want to keep your curls or texture but also want to restore and strengthen your hair.
